Harvey Dobson Victorious at Sand Martins

The Futures Tour moved to Sand Martins for the 4th event of the season. The course was in fantastic condition and the much tighter, inland style front nine holes seemed to test the players a little more than the links style back nine.

With the lower handicaps going off first, scores were pretty good right from the start. Under 16 Squad Members, Liam Heath (Tadmarton Heath), Bradley Hopkin (Goring & Streatley) and Daniel Butteriss (Beaconsfield) came in with 73, 75 and 76 respectively. With 5 birdies in his last 9 holes, Harvey Dobson (Wexham Park) blew the rest of the field apart with a great 71.

For the Under 14s Archie Sollis (Cotswold Club) and Jakob Payne (Burford) kept up with the Under 16s with 74 and 76, and Archie’s +4 score proved enough to take that age group prize.

Oliver O’Dell (Goring & Streatley), proved that the Under 12’s aren’t that far back by returning a fantastic 76 which wasn’t surpassed and gave him the younger age group victory.

In the net scoring, after Harvey Dobson, Freddie Wheeler (Tadmarton Heath) was the best U16 with nett 70. Matthew Gough (The Springs) led the U14 nett field with a 68 and Himal Gurung (Woburn) finished just behind Oliver in the Under 12 nett with 72.

Harvey Dobson’s 71 was the best score of the day
