Boys South East Qualifying

The BB&O boys team secured a thrilling victory at the SEG England Boys Qualifier yesterday. Three ahead after the morning round the boys moved further ahead as the last groups entered the back 9, with Essex the closest challengers, 6 back. A very difficult 30 minutes saw Essex take the lead by 1 shot but Tom Gregory birdied the last two holes to secure victory by a single shot.

This win represents the best performance by a BB&O Boys team since the late 1990’s. The BB&O team was the youngest of the 11 Counties at this years event, making the victory all the more impressive.

Well done to everyone that has played a part in the Junior programme over the years. This win is for the boys, parents, coaches, managers and BB&O staff, without whom a victory of this magnitude would not have been possible. Let’s use this as a platform for even greater things in the future.

BB&O will go on to represent the South Eastern Group ((SEG) in the Boys Finals which will take place in the last week of AugustYorkshire (Northern), Somerset (South Western Group) and Staffordshire (Midland) will make up the other finalists.

A team of 7 will be selected by the 8th August. The Finals will take place at the Northamptonshire County Golf Club, over 4 days, between the 28th and 31st August. The team will stay near the venue for 4 nights, starting on the 27th August.
