Hampshire Hog & Selbourne Salver

Hampshire Hog & Selbourne Salver

Some of the early season Men’s National events are starting to take place and BB&O had a lot of representation in both the Hampshire Hog & Selbourne Salver. The Selbourne Salver was played first and Peter Handcock (Harleyford) played magnificently and posted rounds of 70 & 65 which gave him a total of 135 (-3). Unfortunately this was 1 shot too many and Peter finished in second. David langley (Castle Royle) also had 2 impressive rounds leaving him on the same score as Peter but 4th on countback. Also inside the top 20 were Taylor Paul (Stoke park) & Melan Dhaubhadel (Calcot Park).

The very next day was the Hampshire Hog at North Hants and BB&O’s top placing player was Olly Huggins (Frilford Heath) who’s rounds of 70 & 67 gave him a total of 137 (-1) to leave him in 5th place. David Langley and Melan Dhaubahadel also occupied the top 10. Tim Shin (Castle Royle) finished in 16th place but notably shot the best round of the afternoon with a 66.

The Salver and Hog events combine to give a 72 hole winner with important WAGR points up for grabs. David Langley unfortunately finished just 1 stroke behind the eventual winner. His rounds of 67, 68, 67 & 71 gave him a 4 round total of 273. Some very impressive scoring and unlucky to just miss out on the title. It wasn’t just David who finished high up in the overall competition, BB&O had 6 players occupying the top 30. These players were David Langley, Melan Dhaubhadel, Olly Huggins, Tim Shin, Taylor Paul & Rory Browne (Feldon Valley). This just shows the strength in depth that BB&O has and The First Team travel to Essex on May 13th for their first league match of 2018.
