The Amateur Championship has been won by Max Smith (Newbury Racecourse) in one of the tightest finishes in a number of years. Four players were all in with a chance coming into the 16th. Only Max (in the final group) was able to play the last 3 holes in level par. With a great second into 18 he could afford 2 putts from 10 feet to win the 83rd Championship.
