At a very wet Tadmarton Heath on 16th July Paul Heselden came out top of the Amateur Championship qualifier hopefuls with a great round of 69. The Trophy Committee deemed that conditions were so poor and the players so wet that it would be better to abandon the afternoon round and take the qualifiers based on the first round scores.
