Hoping for an Amateur to finally win this Championship in my final year – was a pipe dream! A great round of 67 from Bill Hemstock enabled him to pick up the Trophy by 1 shot from Gregg Blainey. Simon McGreal and Van Phillips were both a shot back on 69 and our best placed Amateurs were Dan Caton and Michael East in joint 5th after 2 under par rounds of 70.
