Champion Club & Courage Trophy

Champion Club & Courage Trophy

The Champion Club and Courage Trophy events were held at the iconic Stoke Park this year. There was a full field of 24 Clubs and 72 players. The format for the Champion Club is a difficult one with all 3 players 36 hole gross totals added together. After the morning’s play Stoke Park & Castle Royle had put some distance between themselves and the rest of the field but with the difficult format it was far from a two horse race. The Stoke Park trio of Andrew Lynch, Tom Lawson & Kevin Freeman made their home advantage count and they took the title by 11 strokes on 427 (+7). In second on 438 (+18) was the Castle Royle team of Harrison Arnold, Tim Shin & George Gardner. Back in third place on 455 (+35) and a valiant defence of the title that they won last year was the Woburn trio of Jack Bartlett, Stephen Jensen & Lucas Stewart.

Andrew Lynch (Stoke Park) went one better than last year and sealed the Courage Trophy with excellent rounds of 68 & 70 (-2). This beat the current County Champion Tim Shin (Castle Royle) by 4 strokes after Tim’s rounds of 68 & 74 left him on +2. In third and one of only a few juniors in the field was Harrison Arnold (Castle Royle) who sealed third place with rounds of 69 &74 (+3), a terrific achievement.

Stoke Park will now represent BB&O at the England Golf finals at Huddersfield GC later this year. We wish them the very best of luck.
