The Berkshire Trophy & The Sir Henry Cooper Masters

The Berkshire Trophy & The Sir Henry Cooper Masters

It was a great weekend for players from BB&O. George Gardner (Castle Royle) fresh home after completing his studies in America fired rounds of 71, 70, 72 & 65 to give him a four round total of 278 (-9) at The Berkshire trophy. His final round of 65 saw him climb steeply up the leaderboard. George finished some time before the overnight leaders so it meant an anxious wait in the clubhouse to see if his score would be good enough. The last card to be handed in was from Matthew Roberts and his final round of 70 also gave him a four round total of 278. With no playoff this meant George along with Matthew were crowned Champions. The last BB&O player to lift the coveted trophy was Eddie Pepperell back in 2010. David Langley (Castle Royle) continued his love affair with The Berkshire and finished in 7th place while Olly Huggins (Frilford Heath) finished in 13th place. David won the Scrutton Jug which is awarded for the best combined scores from the Brabazon Trophy & The Berkshire Trophy. Well done George & David, enjoy the moment.

The Sir Henry Cooper Masters is a prestigious event held at Nizels GC for some of the best U18’s in Europe. Harrison Arnold (Castle Royle) continued his fine form in 2018 and finished in 4th with rounds of 74, 70, 72 & 72 (Level) which was a tremendous effort but left him 14 shots behind the run away winner from Germany. Also performing strongly in the event was Melan Dhaubhadel (Calcot Park) who fired rounds of 75, 74, 71 & 70 which left him in 7th place. Also occupying the top 10 in 10th place was Conor Gough (Stoke Park) after rounds of 73, 75, 72 & 72. To have three boys finish in the top 10 is a truly remarkable achievement, well done!
