The Van Phillips Trophy

The Van Phillips Trophy

The Van Phillips Trophy was held at the iconic Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire. Over 40 of the best U16 golfers from all over the country competed on an immaculately presented golf course. Van Phillips (former European Tour Player) had hoped to be available to give out the prizes and talk to the competitors as he did last year, but he had a playing commitment clash that was unavoidable. He did, however, pass on his best wishes and expressed how important both Stoke Park and County golf had been in his development as a player.

Duran Gun (George Washington Golf Club) claimed victory with a fantastic 3 under par 67 which included six birdies. Two shots behind was the “Douglas Johns” champion Oliver Dickman (Cuckfield Golf Club) who seems to like competing in BB&O events! There were four players on 72. Ben Loveard (Woburn) took third place and Archie Smith (Bearwood Lakes) fourth on countback ahead of Taylor Paul (Stoke Park) and Tom Stephenson-Green (Frilford Heath).

Our thanks go to all of the staff at Stoke Park who made this event possible and we look forward to returning next year.
