Taylor wins Autumn Trophy & Open Championship

The Autumn Trophy and Open Championship was played at Lambourne Golf Club on Sunday 12th September. This is the only event in the BB&O calendar where pro’s play alongside the amateurs, for the past two year’s an amateur has won both the Autumn Trophy and Open Championship. Ben McFadden (Castle Royle) set the pace shooting 71 (-1) for the chance of an amateur lifting both trophies for the third year in a row. Harry West (Pro) matched Ben’s 71 however Ben still remained on top on count back. Ben Preece (Pro) went one better shooting 70 (-2) to go ahead in the Open Championship. Connor Jacob (Goring & Streatley) snuck ahead of Ben Mcfadden on count back after birdieing 2 of the last 3 holes. Connor didn’t stay at the top for long as Luke Perkins (Frilford Heath) came back in 32 to shoot 68 (-4). Ian Campbell (pro) shot 68 which was good enough to be the top pro, however Taylor Paul kept up his fine form and finished with 3 birdies to shoot 67 (-5) to lift both the Autumn Trophy and Open Championship. This made it the third year in a row that an Amateur has won both trophies.

Taylor’s win made him victorious in the Order of Merit with Adam Birdseye (Maidenhead) in second place. A great performance across the whole season!

Congratulations to Taylor on a very impressive performance!
