Seb wins the double

BB&O was hosted by Beaconsfield Golf Club on Monday 14th August for the U12 & U14 Championship. The weather was looking ominous with dark skies surrounding the course. Annesh Singh (Castle Royle) went out first and set a fantastic clubhouse target in the U12’s nett leaderboard after shooting 66. Flynn Kennard (Bearwood Lakes) had a steady back nine to complete his round for a gross 87. Flynn remained at the top until Sebastian Duffield (Sand Martins) had the back nine of his life after having 8 pars and 1 birdie to finish level par for the round. Sebastian lifted the trophy and became the BB&O U12 Champion.

In the U14’s leaderboard, Pearse Conway (Beaconsfield) used his home advantage making 4 birdies and very few mistakes to finish +1 (73) for the event. Himal Gurung (Woburn) finished with birdies at 17 and 18 to shoot 76 nett 63 – a fantastic score! Pearse was now checking the leaderboard anxiously waiting for the final few groups to come in. Josh Waldegrave (Gerrards Cross) birdied the last to finish on 73 to match Pearse however just fell short on count back. Marcus Smith (Castle Royle) had a fantastic level par round with 2 birdies in the final 4 holes however Sebastian’s 72 was good enough to not only lift the trophy for the U12’s but also the U14’s beating Marcus on count back. Congratulations to Sebastian on a very impressive performance becoming both the U12 & U14 Champion, the last person to lift both trophies was Conor Gough who went on to play the Walker Cup. We look forward to watching Seb’s progress with years to come.

Well done to everyone who played, there were some fantastic scores in some not so nice weather.
