BB&O are victorious at Seacroft

The Eastern Inter Counties Foursomes has been an elite test of foursomes golf for the last 67 years. Not since 1986 have BB&O been able to field a team strong enough to take the title, although there have been many close shaves! There are 9 counties that meet for 4 triangular matches within 48 hours.

The BB&O squad this year mirrored our elite squads throughout the season and were considered by all to be the most serious of contenders. The team was made up of Harrison Arnold (Castle Royle), Rory Browne (Feldon Valley), Adam Birdseye (Maidenhead), James Brockington (Henley), Alfie Forisky (Maidenhead), Ryan Greenwood (Tadmarton Heath), George Johnson (Beaconsfield), Joel Smith (Heythrop Park), Ben Quick (Beaconsfield) and Tom Wilde (Lambourne).

After a solid start on the first morning, 9.5 points out of a possible 10 in the afternoon session left BB&O with an overnight lead. Session three again saw BB&O accumulate the largest point tally to lead by 3 points going into the final matches. With Essex no longer able to threaten, the final matches against Lincolnshire and Leicestershire and Rutland grouped the three leading counties together in the deciding session.

BB&O had a very impressive afternoon holding their nerve and producing great golf. BB&O took control of the matches and finished the day with 27.5 points, 2.5 points ahead of Lincolnshire. A very thoroughly deserved victory for Simon, Craig and their team.

This is the first time BB&O have won the event since 1987, a fantastic achievement!
