Birdseye is victorious

Birdseye is victorious

The Spring Trophy kicked off the season at Temple Golf Club on Monday 1st May – with one of our strongest fields yet it looked to be a great event. Ben Campion (Frilford Heath) went out first and set a target for the field after shooting 71 (+1). Mackenzie Joyce (Mill Ride) & Sam Warwick (Temple) joined Ben at the top of the leaderboard with John Kennedy (Frilford Heath) 1 shot back. Harvey Dobson from Wexham Park had a very steady round and managed to birdie the last to sneak ahead on level par. Ben McFadden scored an albatross on the 4th hole…which I believe could be the first albatross recorded in this event!

After intermittent showers the sun began to shine for the final groups playing their back nine. Dan MacFarlane (Harleyford) had 2 birdies and an eagle on his way to shooting 69 and taking the clubhouse lead. Dan didn’t stay at the top for long as previous Spring Trophy winner Adam Birdseye (Maidenhead) had 4 birdies on his back nine to finish with a 68 (-2). Harry Thomas (Frilford Heath) put up a good defence shooting 69 (-1). The Maidenhead rivalry between Adam Birdseye and Alfie Forisky grew as Alfie matched Adam’s 68. It was down to countback and as they both had the same back nine it went down to the final 6 holes. Adam just pipped Alfie to lift the trophy. This is Adam’s second victory in the Spring Trophy!

Congratulations to Adam on a great victory.
