Champion Club

Champion Club

At Stoke Park on 12th June, 20 Clubs battled it out for the honour of being BB&O Champion Club for 2015. This year we changed the scoring system to reflect how the England Golf Finals are played. This means all 6 scores will count, so there is no margin for error or No Returns!

As usual we had to run a ballot as the quality of the venues we choose to run this Championship ensures a great entry. 34 Clubs wanted to play but just 20 can be included in the draw. Stoke Park were, of course, favourites round their own track and they were just 3 shots behind Burnham Beeches after the morning round. The weather forecast was not good for the afternoon but fortunately the threatened thunderstorms held off and play was completed. Burnham Beeches never looked in any trouble in the afternoon and their 3 rounds matched their morning efforts. 6 rounds in the mid to low 70s on a Championship course is a great effort and they thoroughly deserved their triumph over Sand Martins and Stoke Park.

We wish Patrick Bart, Dan Caton and Michael East all the best in the England Golf Champion Club event in late September.
