Charlie is BB&O Junior Champion

BB&O. got lucky again with the weather as the sun was shining for the Junior Championship at Donnington Grove on Monday 26th July. With the format being reduced the 27 holes it was all to play for. Liam Heath (Tadmarton Heath) set the pace with a gross 75 (+3) which was matched by both Daniel Butteriss (Beaconsfield) and Thomas Owen (Frilford Heath). These scores were top of the leaderboard until the final two groups came in. Ed Davis (Studley Wood) on fine form shot a bogey free 71 (-1) to take the top spot. As the temperature started to get hotter, so did the scores as Charlie Roper (The Berkshire) shot a -3 back nine on his was to carding a 5 under par 67! A fantastic morning round which gave him a 4 shot lead heading into the final 9 holes.

Simon Mead (Newbury & Crookham) and Daniel Butteriss battled it out on the final 9 holes fighting for the U15 prize. Daniel shot 35 (-1) which just fell short of Simon Mead who shot level par for the nine holes which, following on from his morning 73 (+1), was good enough to lift the trophy by 1 shot! Ed Davis took on the challenge and shot a great 35 (-1) to win the U16 trophy. With the chasing pack shooting under par, Charlie remained calm and shot a steady level par 36. Charlie’s afternoon round meant he became the BB&O Junior Champion on a -5 total, a very impressive score!

Daniel Butteriss’ second round 35 secured him the handicap trophy with a total of -3.

Congratulations to Charlie on a fantastic win, the course was thoroughly enjoyed by all the players and was in great condition.
