The BB&O Autumn Trophy was held at Lambourne Golf Club on Sunday 14 September. It was a race against the weather forecast with heavy rain due later in the day. Two trophies were up for grabs – the “amateur only” Autumn Trophy and the BB&O Championship which also included local PGA Professionals making this a truly unique event. Jack Venn (PGA) went out early and made the most of the better weather to lead the BB&O Championship. As the final groups were on the back nine the light began to fade as the rain got heavier and the decision was made to limit the event to 15 holes as it became obvious that the final groups wouldn’t be able to finish. No amateur was able to beat Jack’s incredible score of 58 over 15 holes and so he was crowned the PGA BB&O Open Champion – congratulations Jack!
Tommy Evans (Beaconsfield) was hoping for a strong performance as he was leading the BB&O Player of the Year heading into the final event. However, Tommy fell just 1 shot shy and finished in second place with a score of 61 over 15 holes. Charlie Herbert (Harewood Downs) overcame the challenging conditions by shooting 60 to win the Autumn Trophy.
Congratulations to Charlie on a fantastic win!
After a successful season, Tommy’s second place in the Autumn Trophy secured him the title of BB&O Player of the Year!
