Club Foursomes

A good field of 48 teams battled it out in the Club Foursomes Championship at Calcot Park on a lovely Summers’s day at Calcot Park on 3rd July. Clubs may enter two teams and can win either the Scratch or Handicap Armada Dishes.

Scoring was good in the morning with 15 teams scoring 76 (SSS 71) or better, which for a Foursomes Medal is a remarkable result. Castle Royle led the Scratch Championship at this point with Shrivenham Park heading the field in the Handicap Championship.

The afternoon saw some friendships stretched with one or two pairings going back quite rapidly, but again the scoring was good and another 11 teams posted 76 or better. In the shake up, the team of Tim Shin and James Harper added another Club Trophy to the Castle Royle collection by posting 2 scores of 71 to beat Craig Buttivant and Jack Haines of Gerrards Cross by 4 shots in the Scratch Championship. Simon Hopkins and David Summers from Burford also had a good day to finish 3rd.

In the Handicap Championship, things were a bit closer and it was no surprise that the Calcot Park pair of Darren Gatward and James Darvall using home advantage to see off the challenge of Harper and Shin by 1 shot with Shrivenham Park taking 3rd spot just 1 shot further back.
