Conor Gough wins English Mens Amateur Championship

Conor Gough (Stoke Park) became the second youngest winner of the English Men’s Amateur Championship at Hankley Common. The 16 year old beat Callum Farr of Northamptonshire County Golf Club 3&2 in a thrilling final. Conor became the British Boys Champion last year and this victory cements his position as one of the very top amateurs in the country. England Golf announced earlier in the year that Conor was in the Walker Cup Training Squad and although his age still makes him an outside bet for the team this fantastic victory will give selectors every reason to take him very seriously indeed.
