Excitement at Henley

Excitement at Henley

The BB&O Futures Tour headed to Henley Golf Club on Wednesday 30th August. It was a strong field of 60 boys competing in the event. The U12’s division was tight at the top but Aneesh Singh’s (Castle Royle) 89 proved too good to beat until Vinnie James (Drayton Park) birdied the last to shoot 87. Sebastian Duffield (Sand Martins) had 3 birdies on route to shooting 73 (+3) to take the top spot in the U12’s division. Emile Cuanalo (Frilford Heath) continued his fine form to sneak ahead of James Lindsay (Huntercombe) to collect the U12’s nett prize. Jack Isard (Frilford Heath) shot 78 to set a target for the U14’s gross prize. Himal Gurung (Woburn) continued his hot streak with a 73 to take the top spot in the U14’s division. Alfie Westbrook (Frilford Heath) shot -2 on the back nine to finish on 73 to lead the U16’s. Nathan Baggett (Beaconsfield) shot 73 however Alfie’s great back nine meant that he snuck ahead of Nathan on count back. The final groups stole the show with 2 players battling it out on the course. Alfie Burt (Wexham Park) had 2 eagles and 5 birdies on his way to shoot his lowest round of 65. However, Freddie Wheeler (Tadmarton Heath) was not letting Alfie run away with it. Freddie was -1 after 9 holes but had a bogey free -4 back nine to beat Alfie on count back. Congratulations to both Alfie and Freddie on shooting a fantastic 65 (-5)!

The excitement of the day came from Yash Patel (Gerrards Cross) who got a hole in 1 on the 13 hole – congratulations to Yash!
