Day 1
The 2026 BB&O Seniors Championship brought together many of the counties leading senior golfers for a competitive and well-supported championship showcasing both high-quality golf and the continued strength of senior amateur golf. The conditions weren’t favourable with windy, damp and cold conditions making it feel more like February rather than May. We were set for a fantastic championship at Denham Golf Club as the top players led the way in the challenging conditions with Justin Rhodes (Woburn) and Simon Philips (The Maidenhead) setting the pace with a 74 (+4). Christian Butler used his home advantage to shoot a fantastic 71 (+1) but that wasn’t good enough to take the lead as George Wilson (Calcot Park) shot his age – 67 (-3) to take a 4 shot lead heading into day 2. With only one bogey on his scorecard and 4 birdies, George performed a masterclass for his playing partners.
With the sun set to make an appearance tomorrow, can anyone make an early charge and chase down George? It’s set to be an exciting second day, with George hoping to win his third championship and Christian, Justin and Simon all challenging for their maiden victory.

Day 2
As promised the sun shone down on the competitors on day 2 of the championship however the wind didn’t die down and combined with the slick fast greens proved to be challenging. BB&O’s biggest supporter, Dougie Rae (Burnham Beeches) won the handicap prize with a respectable score of +1. In the 70 and Over category Ashley Brewer (Denham), Phil Sewell (Lambourne) and Cliff Pearce (Whiteleaf) were battling it out with only 1 shot separating them after round 1. After a better second round of 76, Cliff was victorious. Despite dropping a few shots on the back nine, Justin Rhodes won the 55-59 age category with a +9 total. Craig Buttivant’s (Gerrards Cross) consistency paid off after two 75’s won him the 60-64 division and third place overall. George dug deep and battled the tricky conditions to cross the finish line lifting the trophy for the third time!
Congratulations to George on a fantastic win – 2026 Seniors Champion.
