Henley clinch the title!

On Wednesday 16th April, 72 juniors from 24 clubs descended upon Badgemore Park to compete in the BB&O Junior Champion Club. Each club enters a team of three juniors who play an individual stableford with the best 2 scores from 3 for each club team to count. The strong winds and tight fairways proved challenging for the players with gusts of up to 30 mph during the morning.

Woburn set the pace with a score of 77 after Nathan Nolan finished with 35 points and, after a very solid one-over-par back nine, Sebastian Leverett returned a superb 45 points. As scores started to come in, the leaderboard continuously changed and flipped about before Burford secured third place with 76 points.

Freddie Postlethwaite came in with 38 points which alongside Angus Smith’s 39, shot Henley up the leaderboard to share the top spot with Woburn on 77 points. The third score from both teams now had to be used to establish the winner. Henley’s third player, Thomas Broomfield, had outscored his Woburn counterpart and wrestled the title away from the mighty Woburn.

Henley will go on to represent BB&O in the National Final at Spalding Golf Club on 12th & 13th August.

We wish them the best of luck.
