Hinksey Heights are Hillman Trophy Champions

Over the year 86 clubs were competing for our Hillman Trophy. After the first round the clubs who didn’t make it through were able to enter the Hillman Trophy Plate. The Wychwood Golf Club hosted the final of both the trophy & plate on Sunday 6th October. Chesham & Ley Hill and Ellesborough were fighting it out for the Hillman Plate, it was a very close match with John Sanderson from Ellesborough getting the winning point. The overall score was 4-3 to Ellesborough Golf Club.

Tadmarton Heath and Hinksey Heights came head to head in the final of the Hillman Trophy. Tadmarton started strong winning the first three matches, however Hinksey Heights were able to fight back and secure the next two. It all came down to the last match where Terry Matthews from Hinksey won his match to force a play off. Martyn Cleaver (Tadmarton) and Alasdair Watson (Hinksey Heights) went back down the 1st to determine the winner of the Hillman Trophy. With both players halving the first play-off hole they went down the 18th. Alasdair hit his approach to 12ft to win the play-off. Hinksey Heights are the Hillman Trophy Winners.

Congratulations to both Ellesborough and Hinksey Heights!
