McGregor Trophy

McGregor Trophy

This years England Golf McGregor trophy was held at the wonderful Burham and Berrow GC. Which is a beautiful, but tough championship course, this was evident as the Par is 71 but CSS was 73 for three rounds and 74 for another. This is a worldwide tournament with 140 of the worlds best U16’s competing. BB&O were tremendously represented with 11 players which is an amazing feat. Tom Gregory (Stoke Park), Conor Gough (Stoke Park) & Melan Dhaubhadel (Calcot Park) all made the strict cut of the top 40 players.

A true links breeze was present on the final day but our boys continued to perform strongly. Melan finished in a very credible 30th in what was his first England Golf event but i’m sure it wont be his last. Conor was flying up the leaderboard in his final round but had one difficult hole but still finished 11th. However, Conor was a member of the 3 man England A team that won the Nations cup (Picture below). Brilliant! Tom played very consistent golf from the beginning 71, 74, 73, 72 to finish +6, 4 shots of the lead, and a creditable 5th. Tom was also part of the England B Team which finished second.
