Seniors Championship

David Niven (Newbury & Crookham) secured his first Seniors Championship title by beating Ian Oakes (Denham) in a four hole playoff after both tied on a score of 149. This was the first playoff in the 38th year history of the event and it was good to see so many competitors following the action. After 3 holes the players were tied and the players then went in to ‘sudden death’ down the 1st. Unfortunately, Ian found the trees off his tee shot and a steady par gave David the title, having finished runner up 3 times in the previous 4 years. Ashley Brewer (Denham), who had lead after the first round with a 72 finished 3rd and Cliff Pearce (Whiteleaf) had 2 steady rounds to finish fourth.

In the Age categories, Ian Oakes won the 55 to 59 group, Ashley Brewer the 60 to 64 group, Chris Osbourne (Temple) the 65 to 69 group and  David Doodson (Temple) is this year’s Super Senior.

Ian Roostan (Reading) took the handicap prize and the Team prize went to the Denham Team of Ashley Brewer, David Cromie and Ian Oakes.
