The Springs win Junior Champion Club

Despite a wet month or so, Hazlemere was in fantastic condition for BB&Os premier junior club event. 74 players competed on a cold, extremely wet day and battled valiantly in the knowledge that every shot might make the difference for their team total. Each club fielded a team of three, and the aggregate of two stableford scores per team counted.

Despite the awful weather, Matthew Gough (The Springs) managed to accumulate 43 points off a handicap index of 10. Not far behind was Amelie Jones (Harewood Downs) with 42 points off a handicap of 14. Alfie Westbrook (Frilford Heath) managed 39 points whilst Archie Sollis (Tadmarton Heath) made four birdies on the bounce in the worst of the weather.

In the end, The Springs team of Matthew Gough, Henry Plant and Oliver O’Dell stormed to victory by 7 points. In second place with 72 points were Amelie Jones, Dylan Andrews and Ajuni Bains from Harewood Downs. The home club, Hazlemere, finished third. Their team of Kai Radmore, Olly Hunt and Carter Fox finished with 71 points. Interestingly, Amelie Jones is a member of Hazlemere but represented Harewood Downs as her “home club”. How interesting it would have been had Hazlemere benefitted from her 42 points!

Congratulations to The Springs who will represent BB&O in the national final at Woodhall Spa later in the year.
