The Van Phillips Trophy

The Van Phillips Trophy

The first ever Van Phillips Trophy was held at the wonderful Stoke Park, the setting to many a good finale. The weather was very Autmunal with some drizzle and mist early on but the course was in great condition and 46 of the local counties best U16 players were ready to do battle for the last time in 2017. The winner was a home player on two accounts, firstly for BB&O and secondly for Stoke Park. Tom Gregory shot an excellent round of 69 (-2) of which included a hole out with a wedge from 135 yards. In second place just a stroke back and also under par (-1) was another BB&O player in Gregor McKenzie (Kirtlington). In third on level par a day after his victory in The Futures Tour event at Frilford Heath was Will Tate (Caversham Heath). Taylor Paul (Stoke Park) also shot level par but settled for 4th on count back. BB&O players took all the prizes but we must thank all those from outside BB&O for making the effort to play in the event and we hope to welcome many of you back next year. It was great for Van to be around on the day to present the prizes and i’m sure he was somewhat of an inspiration to the boys who took part.
