Senior Series – The Caversham

After a long winter the BB&O season kicked off with the first Senior Series Event. Set against the backdrop of The Caversham, the event promised both a stern test of golf and an enjoyable day of competition. Conditions were expected to play a significant role, with spells of sunshine interspersed with gusting winds and passing heavy hail showers. These changing elements demanded adaptability and focus from the players, adding an extra layer of challenge to an already demanding course.

Steve Prince & Lee Bishop from Burnham Beeches set the pace with a very credible 37 points. The East Berkshire duo of Kevin Brant & Brian Keely were quick out of the blocks with a -3 front nine but they were unable to sustain the pace on the back nine finishing on -1 and dropping behind Steve & Lee on count back. Darren Gatward (Calcot Park) & Mark Simpson (The Caversham) used Mark’s home advantage to join the party on 37 points and clinch the victory on count back.
