Shane & Harry win the triple

The BB&O Foursomes Championship once again brought together many of the region’s leading amateur golfers for a highly competitive and enjoyable championship, showcasing the unique challenges and traditions of foursomes golf. Hosted at Calcot Park, the championship attracted a strong field from across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire, with players competing in a format that demands teamwork, consistency, and strategic course management.

Home members, Shane Slatter & Harry Chapple, put together a superb bogey free morning round of 65 (-5) as a result of local knowledge plus a hot putter. The chasing pack on +3 included Goring & Streatley pair, Connor Jacob & Cavan Mallon and Justin Rhodes & Ed Stephenson from Woburn. Could anyone catch Shane and Harry in round 2?

The players utilised their knowledge after round 1 and went low in round 2. Ashley Walton & Dean Newbold representing Frilford Heath, took charge of the afternoon session after shooting -3 on the back nine to finish with 67 to climb the leaderboard into 2nd position with 2 groups left on the course. Stevie Evans (Harleyford) & Jake Warsap (Sand Martins) shot -2 to sneak into second place ahead of Justin & Ed who fired a final round 70 after a couple of shots fell away late in the round. Shane & Harry were able to continue their momentum to shoot a consecutive under par round and finish 8 shots ahead of the nearest competitor on -6.

Congratulations to Shane & Harry who lift the Scratch, Handicap & Club Foursomes trophies!
