Calcot Park win Champion Club

Calcot Park win Champion Club

The Champion Club was played at Denham Golf Club, where 22 clubs were competing for the chance to represent BB&O at the English Champion Club. The weather was perfect for golf however partnered with demanding rough and firm fast greens meant challenging conditions. Rory Browne (Feldon Valley) led the way with a bogey free 67 (-3) closely followed by Alex Stubbs (Frilford Heath) shooting a 69 (-1). After the morning round, Frilford Heath & Calcot Park were leading the way however with still one round to go it was all to play for.

Ex-Walker Cup player Conor Gough (Stoke Park) got the ball rolling in the afternoon and set the standard with a 68 (-2) to finish level par for the event. Rory Browne couldn’t match his morning round and came up short of the Courage Trophy. Congratulations to Conor Gough for winning the Courage Trophy!

Conor Gough – Courage Trophy Winner

Calcot Park came in early and topped the leaderboard with a +26 total, eagerly waiting for Frilford Heath to complete their second round to see if they could match it. Frilford Heath struggled in the afternoon finishing in 6th place. The consistency from the Calcot Park members Charlie Guest, Harry Powell & Bradley Tuckett proved successful and they finished 3 shots clear of Castle Royle.

Congratulations to Calcot Park who will go on to represent BB&O at the English Champion Club at Knole Park in September.
