Development Tour Final

Development Tour Final

The BB&O County Development Tour was established to feed the highly successful BB&O Futures Tour. Both tours were created to deliver a talent pathway for young competitive boys whilst also allowing mid handicap juniors the opportunity to play different courses against some of the best golfers in the county. Executive Committee members such as Iain MaCaskill and ex President, Rod Crisp, were instrumental in its conception.

The Crisp Cup is awarded to the best scratch score achieved in this, invite only, final event of the season.

“Under Ten” year olds and “Under Twelve” year olds played twice over a beautifully presented Billingbear nine hole course. The standard was excellent and as ever, the boys and one girl demonstrated skill levels way beyond their years.

In the Under 12 event Sammy Jaworski posted an early 66 but knew he’d have an anxious wait for Faeez Chaudhary (Wexham Park) to return. Faeez had won the previous four events but an uncharacteristically poor front 9 threatened to thwart him. His 65 squeaked ahead of Sammy but wasn’t quite enough to beat Flynn Kennard (Bearwood lakes) who shot an excellent 64.

As it happened, the Under 10s stole the show. Jack Grant shot a 70 to take the early lead which was then beaten by a fine 67 from Harrison Edwards (The Lambourne). Mason Hayes (Feldon Valley) was playing towards the tail end of the field and smashed through to return the best score of the day with a fantastic 59! His 5 shot victory was the perfect way to take the Crisp Cup, which we are certain won’t be the last trophy he raises.

Our thanks go to our tournament organisers, Mike Partridge and David Westlake, the tournament sponsor Rod Crisp, and the players and parents who have made the Development Tour so enjoyable all season.
