Senior League Winners

After a successful season in the SEG North Division, BB&O gained a place in the league final against the winners of the South Division. The final took place at Royal Blackheath Golf Club on Wednesday 15th October where BB&O competed against Surrey for their chance to be League Champions. The match was nip and tuck the whole way as the scoreline stood at 3-3 after the first six matches. Match 7 was won by Surrey on the 18th green but match 8 fell in BB&O’s favour. It all came down to the final two matches. Match 10 finished on the 16th with BB&O taking the point. This meant that BB&O narrowly took the lead with  Stewart Dalgarno still battling to bring victory home for BB&O. Stewart was 1 down after the 16th before taking advantage of his opponents wayward drive on 17 to go back to all square playing the last hole. Both players found the fairway on the 18th and hit the green with their approaches – Surrey taking the advantage with a closer birdie putt. Stewart’s birdie putt just ran by the hole leaving a 2 foot return putt. After Surrey’s birdie attempt failed to find the hole, Stewart confidently holed the par putt to gain the winning 0.5 point for BB&O. Thank you to Surrey & SEG for a fantastic league final played in great spirits.

Congratulations to the BB&O Seniors team on being crowned the SEG League Champions.

The players representing BB&O in the final were: Craig Buttivant (Gerrards Cross), Steve Clarke (Buckingham), Stewart Dalgarno (The Wychwood), Chris Harrison (Newbury & Crookham), John Kennedy (Frilford Heath), Richard Lee (Goring & Streatley), Gary Mumford (Woburn), Justin Rhodes (Woburn), Mark Simpson (The Caversham) & Tim Whittaker (Beaconsfield).
