Drayton Park are Champions!

Drayton Park are Champions!

It was a soggy start to the Junior Champion Club at Royal Ascot Golf Club on Friday 5th April. The format of the day is a stableford with the best 2 from 3 scores to count. Due to the wet weather the course was down to 16 holes but we were very lucky that the course remained open. Edward Cary, Freddie Postlethwaite and Harry Blackwell from Henley Golf Club set the pace with a team score of 67 points. The rain stayed away and the sun made an appearance for the players meaning all teams were able to complete their round. Henley’s score looked tough to beat until Oscar Bolton shot 35 points, which combined with Harry Stachura’s 33 points, jumped Drayton Park into the top position. Vinnie James – the third member of Drayton Park’s team, had a strong front nine but the conditions got the better of him on the back nine. Henry Plant started The Springs’ defence strong with a solid 35 points. Matthew Gough’s 33 points meant that The Springs fell short as their third played, Oliver O’Dell, had to withdraw injured. Drayton Park’s 68 remained at the top of the leaderboard – congratulations to Oscar, Harry & Vinnie on winning the BB&O Junior Champion Club. Drayton Park will represent BB&O at the National Final in August at Woodhall Spa – we wish them the best of luck!

Thank you to the greenkeepers and Royal Ascot staff for their hard work in getting the event played.
