Eastern Counties Foursomes

The Saturday opened with BB&O facing Norfolk and Bedfordshire. It was a strong start from the partnerships of Rory Browne & James Brockington and Adam Birdseye & Lee White winning both their matches. After the first session BB&O were in a good position heading into the afternoon with 6.5 points. The team were able to win another 6.5 points against Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire which meant after Day 1 BB&O were ahead on 13 points alongside Lincolnshire.

On Sunday morning BB&O played Suffolk and Leicestershire & Rutland in the first session of the day. After a thirty minute fog delay the teams were out on the course. The team were able to win 4 points which left BB&O trailing by 2 points going into the final session. In the final draw of the weekend BB&O faced Essex and Lincolnshire. In a typically competitive dual Essex won the majority of the points in a series of matches where BB&O were just a little off the pace.

Leicestershire & Rutland came out on top with 26 points. Their strong final day left them 2.5 points ahead of Lincolnshire. BB&O finished in 6th position alongside Northamptonshire on 20 points. Once again BB&O had put themselves into “the mix” going into the final stages of the tournament and with a few kinder bounces and holed putts the result could have been very different!
