Eastern Inter Counties Foursomes

The BB&O First Team travelled to Seacroft Golf Club to compete in the Eastern Inter Counties Foursomes on 17-18th May. After a tough first session against Norfolk and Bedfordshire, BB&O trailed with 4 points. The team fought back with a strong afternoon session picking up 7.5 points to throw themselves back in contention. BB&O played the leaders Leicestershire & Rutland in the morning and were able to gain some ground as they went into the final round only 0.5 point behind. BB&O were up against Essex and Lincolnshire on Sunday afternoon which proved difficult as Lincolnshire came out fighting for their comeback. Lincolnshire won 8.5 points out of a possible 10 to sneak ahead and clinch the trophy with a final points total of 24. BB&O finished in fourth place with 22 points – only 2 points behind the winners.

The players who represented BB&O were: Carl Banner (Beaconsfield), Adam Birdseye (Maidenhead), Alfie Burt (Beaconsfield), James Brockington (Henley), Rory Browne (Feldon Valley), Connor Jacob (Goring & Streatley), Luke Perkins (Frilford Heath), Joel Smith (Heythrop Park), Archie Sollis (Tadmarton Heath) & Freddie Wheeler (Tadmarton Heath).

A special mention to U18 squad members Alfie Burt, Archie Sollis and Freddie Wheeler who made their First Team debut and all contributed to the success of the team.

Adam Birdseye & Luke Perkins were the top points scorers as they went undefeated with 6 wins and 2 halves, picking up 7 out of a possible 8 points.
