Futures Tour Finale
The finale of the Futures Tour took place at Frilford Heath on Wednesday 25th October. After a damp start the sun began to shine as the players progressed through their round. After a strong season, it was great to see a full field of under 16’s competing for their chance to win the BB&O Futures Tour Order of Merit. Reuben Crighton (Lambourne) got off to a quick start shooting a gross 82 however this was quickly knocked off the top spot by Flynn Kennard (Bearwood Lakes) who shot 77. Sebastian Duffield (Sand Martins) continued his fine form shooting an incredible 74 to snatch the U12’s victory. Seb’s great performance throughout the year has earned him the U12’s Order of Merit – a wonderful achievement!
Joe Swaine (The Springs) had his best round of the season shooting a gross 69 which looked hard to beat. Thomas James (Frilford Heath) had a great day shooting 74 which snuck into second place ahead of Josh Waldegrave (Beaconsfield). Due to the absence of Marcus Smith (Castle Royle), Jakob Payne (Burford) needed a top 5 finish to win the U14’s Order of Merit. Jakob shot 76 which was just enough to finish 4th and put him 1 point ahead of Marcus on the U14 Order of Merit. The U16 Order of Merit was a battle between Freddie Wheeler (Tadmarton Heath) and Alfie Burt (Wexham Park) although Freddie needed the stars to align for him to prevail. Freddie put up a fight shooting 69 to win the Frilford Heath U16 prize however Alfie’s 72 put him in 4th position which was enough to secure the U16 Order of Merit.
Congratulations to Seb, Jakob and Alfie on winning their respective Order of Merits.
