Jack Lee wins The Douglas Johns

Jack Lee wins The Douglas Johns

A successful first event back after COVID-19, the sun was shining and we had a full field of 60 players. Although the event was cut down to 18 holes, the standard of golf still remained strong. It was great to see the boys start their competitive season.

Simon Mead (Newbury & Crookham) shot a solid level par (69) to take the clubhouse lead with 4 groups left to come in. Jack Lee (Rochester & Cobham Park) played a fantastic back nine of 32 to finish on 68 (-1) and take the lead. It all came down to the final group, where Tyler Weaver (Bury St Edmunds) had 3 birdies in the final 6 holes. However, this was not enough to beat Jack Lee. Congratulations to our Douglas Johns 2020 Champion Jack who won on a card count back.

In the nett competition, Quinn Tinkler from Breadsall Priory GC set the pace with an early nett 65, which was matched by James Bould (Burhill). James Bould won the nett prize on count back to Quinn.

Thank you to Harewood Downs for their fantastic hospitality and for presenting the course in superb condition.
