Junior Elite V Hertfordshire V Middlesex

BB&O U18’s secured victories in their remaining league fixtures, against Herts and Middlesex, on a chilly afternoon at Ealing Golf Club. Needing only a halved match to finish top of the Central Division, BB&O’s two wins helped mirror the U16’s achievement of winning all their league matches in 2017.

Both victories were hard fought as Hertfordshire and Middlesex held their own during the early exchanges. Conor Gough, out at No.1, again found a Middlesex opponent in good form. Though behind for most of the round Conor moved ahead in the latter stages and wrapped up his match on the 17th. His Herts opponent had back to back eagles, early on the back 9, and another birdie on the 16th. A halved match was probably a fair result. Tom Gregory, secured two wins with a bit to spare, as did Sebastian Tannum-Donaldson. Melan Dhaubhadel, having performed very well in the singles at the County Finals, again showed his appetite for matchplay golf, winning both his matches in style. Taylor Paul fought well to win his match against his Middlesex opponent though having come back from 4 down against Hertfordshire lost the last two holes to lose the match. Gregor McKenzie had an uncharacteristic off day losing to both Hertfordshire and Middlsex. Will Tate who is also a member of the U16 squad, seemed to enjoy his opportunity, winning both his matches at number 7. James Gregory, out at number 8, struggled early on, before finding his rhythm in the middle of his round. He won a number of holes around the turn to forge ahead of his Hertfordshire opponent but could not establish a winning position against his Middlesex opponent, and had to settle for a half in that match. 1 1/2 points represented a good afternoon’s work for James

The BB&O Junior Elite team will compete against Surrey (South) and Norfolk (North), at Hockley Golf Club, Hampshire for the South Eastern Group U18 League Title 2017
