Marcus Smith wins at Henley

Henley Golf Club had never looked better for the fourth Futures Tour event of the season. The lush fairways meant that the course played at it’s full length but despite this, the scoring was excellent and demonstrated the wealth of talent and potential within BB&O. It was obvious that even those new to the events, and playing a little below their best, will use this to fuel practice now that the school break is upon us.

In the Under 12s, Seb Duffield (Sand Martins) continued his domination of the age group by shooting an exceptional 71. Not since Conor Gough have we seen scoring like it from an 11 year old and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. Dominic Rosser (Reading) finished second in the gross prize but his nett 68 secured the winning nett prize. His fellow Reading member, Arthur Scott continued his improvement pathway and finished third with a nett 72.

The Under 14s category had no fewer than six BB&O Squad players break 80. It was Oliver O’Dell (The Springs) who led the way with a fine 72 ahead of Thomas James (Frilford Heath) and Himal Gurung (Woburn) who both shot 74. Charlie Hodgson shot a fantastic nett 64 to take the nett prize.

Three players carded a gross 70 in the U16s event. On countback, Marcus Smith (Castle Royle) sneaked the win from Harvey Cooper (Castle Royle) and Nathan Bagett (Beaconsfield). Olly Hunt led the way in the nett prize with a nice 67.
