Seniors Success

The South Eastern Group run the County Qualifiers for the Boys, Men and Senior teams throughout July. Eleven counties all compete for their chance to represent the South Eastern Group in the national finals which take place later in the year. The format of the events are stroke play with the best 5 from 6 scores to count over 36 holes. The Boys competed at Rookery Park Golf Club on 3rd July. Drew Rolfe (Calcot Park) finished third in the individual standings and the team finished 6th. The Men started strong at The Dyke Golf Club on Saturday 13th July leading by 8 shots heading into the second round. However the results did not fall in our favour and we finished 3rd. Luke Perkins (Frilford Heath) finished second in the individual standings.

The BB&O Senior team competed at Heythrop Park on 18th & 19th July. After day 1, BB&O held a 1 shot lead ahead of Surrey. The temperatures soared for day 2 which proved challenging for some counties. BB&O rose to the challenge and battled through the heat to finish 5 shots clear of their nearest competitor. Mike Sanders (Beaconsfield) was +3 for the event resulting in a third place finish in the individual standings. Congratulations to the Seniors Team who will head to Torquay Golf Club in October to compete in the national final.

The BB&O Seniors Team who won the SEG County Qualifier was:

Steve Clarke (Buckingham)

Stewart Dalgarno (The Wychwood)

John Kennedy (Frilford Heath)

Richard Lee (Goring & Streatley)

Martyn Metcalfe (Henley)

Mike Sanders (Beaconsfield)

Captain – Mark Stokes (Studley Wood)
