Penfold Trophy

Penfold Trophy

James Butterworth (Harewood Downs) headed the field of those players eligible for the Penfold Trophy after rounds of 76 and 72 at Maidenhead on 27th June. He was 3 shots clear of Callum Kirby (Stoke Park) with Ben Platt (East Berkshire) in 3rd place. James and Tom (2010) are the only Brothers to have won this Trophy since its inception.

As entries for the Amateur Championship had not been filled, some of the late entries were allowed to participate in this tournament to try to earn one of the 20 qualifying places for the main event. Jack Haines (Gerrards Cross), Adam Batty (Beaconsfield) and Sandy Bolton (Goring and Streatley) finished 1st, 2nd and 4th respectively to join James Butterworth and 16 others on 159 (after countback) and below to play in the 86th Amateur Championship on 7th & 8th August at Ellesborough.
