Strong performances by BB&O U16’s players

90 of the best U16 boys in the country competed for this sought after title. The cut came after 36 holes, with the top 40 and ties progressing to the final round. 8 of our BB&O juniors made the cut ( Struan Hancock, Seb Tannum Donaldson, Carl Banner, Conor Gough, Gregor Mckenzie, James and Tom Gregory, Taylor Paul). This was a tremendous performance in such a strong field and demonstrates the depth of talent within the BB&O.

The final round was then played on the Championship GC, where the pins were tucked away in very tricky positions and the rough was thick and lush. Hitting fairways was a must! The climax of the event was very exciting. At one stage on the back 9, there were 6 boys within one shot of each other . The eventual winner was decided after a 2 way play off. Charlie Hilton from Ifield Golf Club, with a  total 54 score of level par, was crowned the Midlands U16 champion.

BB&O’s Tom Gregory, who shot a fine back 9 of (-1) finished a solid 4th (+3 total) , Seb Tannum Donaldson played consistent golf to finish 8th and Struan Hancock was a creditable 10th. This is a tremendous early season event, very well run and well worth a trip to Shropshire next year for our U16 Boys.
