The First Team retain the trophy

The annual BB&O Triangular Match took place at Frilford Heath on Sunday 24th March. The First Team, Junior Elite and Seniors were battling it out in the sun for their chance to lift the trophy after 36 holes of matchplay. The wind was strong in the morning which proved challenging, however the First Team came out strong winning 7.5 points going unbeaten in the morning. Charlie Robb (Buckingham), Connor Jacob (Goring & Streatley) and Lee Moore (Maidenhead) were making their debut for the First Team. Charlie paired with Rory Browne (Feldon Valley) won both their morning matches as did Lee & Adam Birdseye (Maidenhead). Connor & Ben McFadden (Castle Royle) won their match against the Juniors but a great birdied from the Seniors down 18 resulted in a halved match.

The Seniors & Junior Elite finished very close after the morning session, with only half a point separating them. Bradley Hopkin (Newbury and Crookham) & Alfie Burt (Wexham Park) secured a win against the Seniors along with Drew Rolfe (Calcot Park) & Thomas O’Kane (Woburn). John Kennedy (Frilford Heath) & Steve Clarke (Buckingham) went out first for the Seniors and got the first point on the board. Craig Buttivant (Gerrards Cross) & Stewart Dalgarno (The Wychwood) went unbeaten in the morning, winning against the Junior Elite and winning the 18th for a half against the First Team which meant they went into the afternoon session 0.5 ahead of the Junior Elite.

As the afternoon progressed, the wind died down and the sun continued to shine. The Junior Elite built momentum and won 7.5 points against the Seniors. A great comeback left them with 11 points after the afternoon session. The First Team continued to dominate winning 14.5 points out of a possible 16 in the afternoon session. Congratulations to the BB&O First Team on retaining the Triangular match for the 6th time in a row.
