Thilanya is crowned champion
Huntercombe Golf Club once again hosted the the annual Mixed U25 Championship. The damp weather continued and provided the players with challenging scoring conditions. Henry Plant (The Springs) took advantage of his early tee time by shooting level par on the back nine and finishing with 75 (+5), nett 68. Thilanya Rajapaksha (Beaconsfield) had a very steady round and set the pace for the girls with a three over par gross 75 (nett 68). Following on from his success in the states, Henry Drake (Calcot Park) had four birdies on his way to shooting 73. Dan Butteriss (Beaconsfield) played solidly however he stumbled on the final two holes and was disappointed to only match the 73 of Henry Drake. In the end, nobody was able to edge ahead of Henry Plant who took the BB&O U25 Handicap Championship on count back to Annabel Denyer (Woburn).
As three players sat on +3, the main title was decided by a card count back between Thilanya, Henry & Dan. As a result of the count back Henry was confirmed as the top BB&O men’s U25 competitor, but Thilanya was crowned the BB&O U25 Champion and became the first girl to take the title.
Congratulations to Thilanya, a fantastic achievement.
