Match Report – U18 League vs Hertfordshire and Essex on Sunday May 13th.

BB&O’s South Eastern Group U18 League title defence started on a beautiful day at Lambourne Golf Club, against Hertfordshire and Essex. Conor Gough, recent winner of the Fairhaven Trophy, continued his recent rich vein of form winning both his matches at No 1. Harrison Arnold (No 2), winner of the 2018 Peter McEvoy, ran into England Boys International Max Hopkins in scintillating form and eventually lost on the 15th green. Harrison’s match against his Essex opponent finished all square. Taylor Paul (No 3), winner of this years Midland U16 Open, won comfortably against his Essex opponent and won the last hole to secure a half point against talented Herts boy Dominic Clemons. Melan Dhaubhadel (No 4), won both his matches with a typically gritty display. James Gregory (No 5) played well during the early part of his matches but lost both his matches by the slenderest of margins. Dillon West (No 6) played very well to secure comfortable wins against both his opponents. Nandit Sondagar, playing his first County match, defeated his Essex opponent but, despite birdieing the last hole against Herts, lost out by a single hole. The match against Hertfordshire stood at 3 1/2 points each with one game out on the course. Tom Lawton (No 8) was 1 down with 4 holes to play but despite his best efforts he never managed to get back on level terms. It was a strong team performance to defeat Essex and fortunately, we have a chance to redeem ourselves when we play Hertfordshire again in the last match of the series.
