Mid Age Championship

Mid Age Championship

This years Mid Age Championship was held at The Oxfordshire. With early morning fog making visibility poor, tee times were delayed by 45 minutes for the morning rounds. The fog lifted and play began. Adam Birdseye (Maidenhead) fired a bogey free 69 (-3) to take the halfway lead with Dan Caton (Burnham Beeches) just a shot back after he fine 70. James Brockington (Henley) & Adam Batty (Beaconsfield) were a further shot back on 71. This left it all to play for going into the afternoon round.

The fog had fully lifted by the afternoon and the sun was out. Dan Caton followed up his 70 in the morning with another 70 giving him a total of 140 (-4) which was good enough to seal the victory. In second and after a second round of 69 which when added to his first round score of 73 gave Lee White (Frilford Heath) second place on 142. In third with scores of 72 & 71 was Jack Small (Mill Ride).  The Handicap section was won by Bob Lucas (Sand Martins) who continued his fine form from the Seniors Championship and his total of 138 beat David Ewers (Studley Wood) by 6 strokes.

Our thanks must go to The Oxfordshire for hosting the event as they have done for the last few years and once again congratulations to Dan Caton on the victory.
